National Emergency Medical Team (EMT) Training
10 – 14 December 2018, Bangkok, Thailand
As part of the mentorship process towards WHO verification of the Medical Emergency Response Team of Thailand (MERT Thailand), WHO SEARO (Regional Office for South-East Asia) and WHO Country Office in Thailand conducted a National Emergency Medical Team (EMT) Training in Bangkok on 10 -14 December 2018.
The main objective of this training was to introduce the EMT initiative and related coordination and quality assurance methodologies as well as global standards to team leaders of provincial MERT teams from around Thailand as well as the development of a roadmap for MERT Thailand towards achieving WHO classification as an international deployable EMT Type 1 in 2019.
The training was attended by 32 participants from MERT Thailand, the Ministry of Public Health and the Thailand Military. WHO SEARO facilitated the training through presentations and group exercises. A working group for the preparatory work towards the classification was established.
WHO SEARO and WHO Country Office will continue to support the working group over the course of 2019.
